Football

Man City 0 – 0 Real Madrid

First leg sees a battling City performance dismay a loose and Ronaldo-less Madrid. Kompany coming back into the defense certainly lent the home side the solidity at the back that has been missing for a while.

Atleti 1 – 0 Bayern Munich

Mighty match. Atletico’s win was something of triumph of will over pattern. Not to say that there was no purpose to the home side’s play but the energy with which they pushed Bayern from the off was highly effective in disrupting the German teams’ rhythm.

Cob’s Previews:

Stoke City v Sunderland (Saturday) Cob predicts Sunderland win

Cob predicted first a Sunderland win and then switched to an Arsenal win. Neither happened. Both sides had penalty appeals turned down and Sunderland had a free kick come back off the post. Arsenal had the better of chances in the first half but could only muster two shots on goal in the second half. Giroud now 14 games without a goal in the league. Sunderland climb out of the relegation places whereas Arsenal have made things a bit more difficult in their stumble to 4th

Manchester Utd v Leicester (Sunday) Cob predicts ?

Leicester, if they win, take the title. Discuss

Southampton v Man City (Sunday) Cob predicts ?

Will City care?

Europa League

Villareal v Liverpool

No Sakho is the big story. Has been suspended for 30 days initially. Decided not to contest charges or look for a B sample.

European Team of the Year:

No Suarez or Ronaldo. Should anyone give a shit?

MMA:

UFC 200

McGregor is off the card officially. Is this a win for Dana and the UFC?

Any other news?

World Snooker Championship:

Ding v McManus

Ding is 6-2 up and playing well.

Cob has McManus and so wants the Scotsman to do well.

Fu v Selby

Could be a long, long match.

O’Sullivan desperately unlucky to be beaten by Hawkins who nearly came up with one of the great come backs yesterday against Fu.
